How to Get from Incheon Airport to Seoul: Best Ways in 2026

Last updated: August 31, 2026

After a long flight, the first thing you may want to know is simple: How do I get from Incheon Airport to Seoul?

You have several choices. You can take the AREX train, an airport limousine bus, a taxi, or book a private airport transfer.

The best option is not always the fastest or cheapest one. It depends on where your hotel is, how much luggage you have, and what time your flight arrives.

I’m Korean, and I enjoy traveling in Korea and abroad. So in this guide, I’ll not only explain the different ways to get to Seoul, but also share which option I would choose in different situations.

Incheon Airport to Seoul at a Glance

OptionTravel timeOne-way priceOperating timeBest for
AREX ExpressAbout 43–51 min₩13,000About 5 AM–11 PMFast and comfortable
AREX All-StopAbout 60–66 minAbout ₩5,000About 5 AM–midnightBudget travelers and Hongdae
Airport BusAbout 60–110 minRoute-dependentRoute-dependentLarge luggage
TaxiAbout 60–90+ minMetered fare24 hoursFamilies and late arrivals
Private TransferAbout 60–90+ minVariesPre-bookedEasy arrival

Travel time can change because of traffic, especially for buses and taxis.

My simple advice: If your hotel is near the AREX line, take the train. If your hotel is close to an airport bus stop, the bus may be easier. If you have a lot of luggage or arrive late, a taxi can save you a lot of trouble.

1. AREX Express Train: Fast and Comfortable

The AREX Express Train goes directly from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station without stopping.

The journey takes about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and about 51 minutes from Terminal 2. The adult fare is ₩13,000.

The train has reserved seats, so it can be a comfortable choice after a long flight.

The first trains leave in the early morning and the last trains leave before midnight. The exact departure time depends on the terminal and date, so check the latest timetable before your trip.

The important thing to remember is that the Express Train goes to Seoul Station. It does not take you directly to Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Gangnam.

Good to Know
The Express Train is not always the easiest AREX option. If your hotel is near Hongdae or Gongdeok, the All-Stop Train may take you closer to your hotel.

2. AREX All-Stop Train: Cheaper and Useful for Hongdae

The AREX All-Stop Train stops at several stations between Incheon Airport and Seoul.

Important Seoul-area stations include Hongik University Station, Gongdeok, Digital Media City, and Seoul Station.

The trip to Seoul Station takes about one hour, depending on the terminal. The fare is much lower than the Express Train.

This can be a good choice if you are staying in Hongdae or near another station on the airport railway line.

The first trains start in the early morning, and the last trains run around midnight. Check the latest timetable because departure times can change.

Worth Considering
The Express Train is faster, but the All-Stop Train is much cheaper. If the All-Stop Train takes you close to your hotel, I would probably choose it.

3. Airport Limousine Bus: Easy with Large Luggage

The airport limousine bus is a good option when your hotel is close to one of its stops.

You can put your luggage on the bus, sit down, and get off in your hotel area. You do not need to carry a large suitcase through a subway station or change trains.

The downside is traffic. A bus can take about 60 to 110 minutes, depending on your destination and road conditions.

Bus fares depend on the route. Many Seoul airport bus routes cost around ₩17,000–₩18,000, but you should check your exact route before traveling.

The operating time also depends on the route. Some buses start early in the morning and finish late at night, while night buses run separately.

Local Tip
Do not only check whether a bus goes to Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Gangnam. Check the exact stop near your hotel. A short walk without luggage can feel very different when you have two large suitcases.

4. Taxi: Best for Door-to-Door Travel

A taxi is the easiest option if you want to go directly from the airport to your hotel.

It can be a good choice if you:

  • have several large bags
  • travel with children
  • travel with three or four people
  • arrive late at night
  • do not want to change trains or buses

Seoul standard taxis currently start at ₩4,800, but this is only the base fare. The final price depends on the distance, time, traffic, tolls, and possible surcharges.

For this reason, I would not give you one fixed “Incheon Airport to Seoul taxi price.” Your hotel location can make a big difference.

A night surcharge applies to Seoul taxis between 10 PM and 4 AM. The surcharge is 20% from 10 PM to 11 PM, 40% from 11 PM to 2 AM, and 20% from 2 AM to 4 AM.

My Tip
If you take a taxi, save your hotel’s Korean name and address on your phone. This can be more useful than showing only the English hotel name.

Also, use the official taxi stands at the airport. Do not follow people inside the terminal who offer you a taxi.

5. Private Airport Transfer: Good for a Stress-Free Arrival

A private airport transfer is booked before your flight. A driver meets you at the airport and takes you directly to your hotel.

It usually costs more than public transportation, but it can be useful if you:

  • arrive very late
  • travel with children
  • have a lot of luggage
  • travel with several people
  • do not want to find transportation after a long flight

I would not book a private transfer just because it sounds convenient. If you arrive during the day and your hotel is near an AREX station, the train may be all you need.

But after a long overnight flight, not having to find a ticket machine, carry your luggage, or change trains can be worth paying extra for.

Worth Considering
If three or four people are traveling together, compare the total cost of a taxi or private transfer with several train or bus tickets. The difference may be smaller than you expect.

What If You Arrive Late at Night?

This is one situation you should plan for before your flight.

If your flight arrives after midnight, do not assume that the AREX is still running. The regular train services finish before the night.

Incheon Airport currently operates several late-night buses to Seoul.

N6000 goes toward Gangnam Express Bus Terminal.

N6002 goes toward Cheongnyangni and passes through Hongdae and Dongdaemun.

N6701 goes toward Dongdaemun Design Plaza and passes through Seoul Station.

N6703 goes toward Gwangnaru and passes through areas such as COEX and Jamsil.

The current adult fares are:

  • N6000 / N6002: ₩17,000
  • N6701 / N6703: ₩18,000

The buses run during late-night hours, but each route has a different schedule. Some departures are around midnight, with additional buses during the early morning hours.

Travel time also depends on your destination. For example, the airport currently lists about 80 minutes to Seoul Station on N6701, about 90 minutes to Gangnam Express Bus Terminal on N6000, and about 110 minutes to Cheongnyangni on N6002 from Terminal 2.

Good to Know
Your flight landing time is not the time you leave the airport. You still need time for immigration, luggage, and walking to the transportation area. If your plane lands at 12:30 AM, do not plan to catch a bus that leaves a few minutes later.

If there is no suitable night bus for your hotel, an official airport taxi is the simplest backup.

Which One Is Best for Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Gangnam?

Your hotel location can change the answer.

Staying in Myeongdong

The AREX Express takes you to Seoul Station, but you still need another way to reach your hotel.

An airport bus can be easier if there is a stop close to your hotel.

Staying in Hongdae

The AREX All-Stop Train is worth checking because Hongik University Station is directly on the airport railway line.

This can be one of the easiest choices if your hotel is near the station.

Staying in Gangnam

An airport bus can be convenient because some routes go toward Gangnam and COEX without a subway transfer.

A taxi can also make sense if you have large luggage or arrive late.

My Tip
I would choose the transportation after checking the hotel, not before. Two hotels in the same neighborhood can have very different access to trains and airport buses.

What If You Have a Lot of Luggage?

This is easy to overlook when planning your trip.

A train may look like the cheapest and fastest choice, but you should also think about the last part of the journey.

For example, you could take the AREX to Seoul Station and then change to another subway line. That may be cheap, but carrying two large suitcases through a busy station is not always fun.

If your hotel is close to an airport bus stop, the bus may be much easier.

If you have several large bags, travel with children, or are staying far from a station, a taxi or private transfer may be worth considering.

Local Tip
Before you leave home, check your hotel’s location and find the nearest airport bus stop or subway station. This small step can save you a surprising amount of walking.

So, Which One Would I Choose?

If I were arriving in Seoul, I would decide based on four things.

Near an AREX station: I would take the train.

Near an airport bus stop: I would consider the bus, especially with luggage.

Several people or lots of luggage: I would compare a taxi and private transfer.

Late at night: I would check the night bus first and keep a taxi as a backup.

There is no single best way to get from Incheon Airport to Seoul.

Choose the option that makes the last part of your journey easiest.
