Spring: The Season of Green

Spring is when Korea starts to feel fresh again after winter.

If you plan to walk around all day, summer can be harder than you expect.

So what do Koreans do?

When the weather is very hot, people often spend time in cafes, shopping malls, museums, and other indoor places during the day.

But summer evenings are different.

When the sun goes down and the temperature becomes more comfortable, people head outside again. One popular way to enjoy a summer evening is to sit by the Han River and enjoy chimaek (치맥, chi-maek) — Korean fried chicken with beer.

Do you want to see the fresh green of spring?

Do you want blue skies, the sea, and warm summer evenings?

Do you want to see Korea in red, yellow, and orange?

Or would you like to see Korea covered in white snow?

But if you care most about comfortable weather for walking and sightseeing, I would choose:

April–May or October–November.

You will probably walk a lot when traveling around Korea, so comfortable weather can make your trip much easier and more enjoyable.

Of course, the best month also depends on what you want to experience.

Choose spring for green scenery and cherry blossoms.
Choose summer for the sea and Korean summer nights.
Choose fall for colorful leaves and comfortable walks.
Choose winter for snow and cozy winter experiences.
